▲ Poketomo, winner of the Excellence Award in Kidult Category
The interactive AI character Poketomo has received the Excellence Award in Kidult Category at Japan Toy Awards 2025, organized by Japan Toy Association.
At the award ceremony held on Thursday, July 10 at the Tokyo International Forum, Takuro Nishitani, Senior Manager of Human Resources, Human Resources & General Affairs Unit, attended on behalf of Sharp.
Japan Toy Awards is established with the aim of encouraging the creation and widespread adoption of safe, high-quality toys that people can enjoy with confidence. This year marks the 17th edition of the awards. Kidult Category recognizes products primarily targeted at adults.
Judges' Comments
By leveraging generative AI, this interactive robot enables users to enjoy natural conversational communication. Its lifelike behaviors—such as looking up at the user when spoken to and expressing emotions through movements of its face and hands—were highly praised for creating conversations that feel remarkably real.
