Super-efficient next-generation solar cells aiming to further boost efforts to solve energy and environmental problems.

Features

High-efficiency solar cells having achieved globally unrivaled energy conversion efficiency exceeding 34% *1.

As well as being slim and lightweight, it can be processed in various ways, e.g. attached to curved surfaces.

As well as space applications, demonstration tests are also underway on electric vehicles (EVs) *2.

*1 Calculated from cell output values (measured by Sharp) under AM 1.5G conditions, which is the international benchmark standard for solar cell evaluations.

*2 A demonstration experiment to show the stable operation of artificial satellites with Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), high-efficiency solar cells with the National Research and Development Corporation, New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. Driving demonstration on public roads to verify the EV cruising distance and fuel efficiency improvement effect.
