Sharp Holds Pre-IFA 2010 Press Conference

Sharp held a press conference on September 2, 2010, one day before IFA 2010 (September 3 to 8), a world-class digital consumer electronics fair.

Hiroshi Sasaoka, CEO of Sharp Electronics (Europe) GmbH (SEEG), opened by telling the approximately 370 attendees about two new AQUOS Quattron* 3D LCD TVs from the LE925 Series that boast four-primary-color 3D LCD technology, and five new Internet-ready AQUOS Quattron LCD TVs from the LE924/LE824/LE814 Series that display 2D with amazing colors. By making use of Sharp's four-primary-color LCD technology, the LE925 Series allows the viewer to enjoy a colorful and realistic 3D display by minimizing crosstalk (the undesirable "ghosting" effect in which the images for the left and right eyes overlap).
The five models will be released in Europe in September. Frank Bolten, President and Managing Director of Sharp Electronics Germany and Austria (SEGA), followed with a look at the Sharp products on display at IFA 2010.

In addition, it was announced that on August 31, 2010, Sharp signed a sponsorship agreement to become a top partner of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and during this announcement Mr. David Taylor from UEFA took the stage.

Queries at the post-conference question-and-answer session centered around Sharp's 3D technology, demonstrating once again the high interest that Sharp can generate through new product introductions.

  • * Quattron is a combination of the word "quattro" meaning "four" in Italian, and the word "electron" in English. The use of four primary colors is a concept designed for LCDs, and differs from the conventional three-primary-color concept of light and color.
