Sharp to Introduce Two New X Series AQUOS LCD TVs

Newly Developed, Next-Generation MegaASV*1 LCD Brings Together
Sharp’s One-of-a-Kind LCD Technologies

Press Release

Sharp Corporation will introduce into the Japanese market two new models in the AQUOS X Series of LCD TVs. The 65V- and 52V-inch*2 TVs feature Sharp’s newly developed, next-generation MegaASV LCD, a cumulation of Sharp’s one-of-a-kind LCD technologies.

By incorporating Sharp’s original one-of-a-kind LCD technologies into its cutting-edge ASV LCD, Sharp has brought about the next-generation MegaASV LCD, which offers overwhelmingly superb picture quality, an innovative thin-profile design, and outstanding environmental performance. The new LCD boasts “mega-contrast ”—that is, a TV contrast of more than 1,000,000:1*3—to deliver deep, rich blacks never before possible. Plus, it expands the reproducible color gamut to 150%*4 of the NTSC color space to deliver the ultimate in color reproduction—almost any color can be reproduced.

These new X Series models offer sophisticated style through a display that is, at its thinnest part, a mere 2.28 cm deep and through the use of metallic material for the cabinet and other parts. On the environmental side, annual power consumption for the 65V-inch model is 294 kWh/year,*5 down approximately 26% compared to Sharp’s 2007 model.*6

For optimal sound quality, these models incorporate a thin-design, 2.1-channel, three-way five-speaker system, jointly developed by Sharp and Pioneer Corporation, that offers a well-balanced sound range. In combination with Sharp’s original 1-Bit digital amp, the speaker system delivers clear, natural sound.

The highly popular AQUOS Familink interface enables users to easily operate an AQUOS Blu-ray Disc Player*7 or an AQUOS HD Recorder*7 connected to the AQUOS TV. And using AQUOS Familink is now easier than ever; functions such as recording, viewing, and setting timed recordings can all be navigated with ease right from the newly developed LCD remote control.

What’s more, these X Series TVs boast a function that gives users a whole new way to enjoy TV. The Picture function lets users display a still image on the TV screen—like decorating a room with a picture.

Ever since releasing the first AQUOS model in 2001, Sharp has constantly strived to provide the best an LCD TV could offer in both picture quality and screen size. When it comes to picture and sound quality, design, and environmental friendliness, these new X Series models offer performance that makes them worthy of being called the next-generation LCD TV.
