Sharp’s Multi-Screen Display Systems Selected for
Main Venues of APEC Japan 2010

Sharp Corporation’s multi-screen display system has been selected for use in the main venues of APEC Japan 2010 (to be held from November 10 to 14, 2010 at Pacifico Yokohama and other locations). The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is an annual forum that brings together heads of state and economic leaders from Pacific Rim countries, including Japan, the United States, China, and Russia. This is the first time that Sharp’s multi-screen display system has been selected for full-fledged implementation at a major international conference.

These multi-screen display systems will be using NHK’s Super Hi-vision (an ultra high-definition video format) to show Japan’s four seasons and World Heritage Sites, and will serve to communicate the beauty and technological prowess of Japan to the world.

These multi-screen display systems consist of Sharp’s 60-inch PN-V601 LCD monitors that feature a dramatically thinner bezel developed as a result of Sharp’s advanced LCD technologies. Since the width of the bezels between neighboring displays is only 6.5 mm, the seams where individual LCD monitors join are unobtrusive, making them ideal for use in applications such as single large-screen video walls and creating new possibilities in presentation spaces not available using conventional approaches.

Total number of PN-V601 monitors to be installed: 106

Installation locations and display configurations:
1. Summits, and ministerial/economic leader meetings (Yokohama Grand InterContinental Hotel, 3rd floor Ballroom): 12-screen display system (twelve PN-V601 LCD monitors)
2. Banquet halls (Pacifico Yokohama Conference Center)
30-screen display system (thirty PN-V601 LCD monitors)
8-screen display systems in eight locations (total of sixty-four PN-V601 LCD monitors)
