Introducing the Sharp Booth at PVJapan 2013

Exhibits of Initiatives That Deliver Fivefold Reassurance

Artist's Conception of Sharp Booth at PVJapan 2013 (Booth P01-058, Hall West 1)

Sharp Corporation will take part in PVJapan 2013, a comprehensive trade show for the global solar-photovoltaic industry to be held by the Japan Photovoltaic Energy Association from July 24 to 26, 2012, at Tokyo Big Sight in Koto-ku, Tokyo. Sharp will display a range of new products and technologies that deliver “fivefold reassurance”—customer satisfaction in terms of electricity being provided when needed; product durability; proper installation; servicing; and warranty.

Exhibit highlights

1. Residential Solar Power Generation Systems

(1) Proprietary service system
In addition to introducing Sharp’s web monitoring service, which now has more than 30,000 subscribers, and after-sales service by “solar technical meisters”*1 who have gained specialized knowledge and skills related to solar power systems, the Sharp exhibits will propose the concept of fivefold reassurance.

(2) HEMS*2 storage battery links
In its effort to propose an intelligent lifestyle that makes smart use of energy, Sharp will exhibit its systems for linking solar panels and storage batteries with a focus on HEMS*2.

2. Solar Modules Double as Building Material

On display will be see-through solar modules that can be installed in a number of applications, including as balcony railings or windows. For reference purposes, Sharp will also exhibit dye-sensitized solar cells that can be used as colorful building materials for wall surfaces and interiors.

3. Commercial Solar Power Generation Systems

(1) After-sales service for small-scale commercial systems
Sharp will exhibit extensive service options, including its 15-year top-to-bottom warranty for residential systems and small-scale commercial systems*3 with less than 50 kW capacity and its new Watchdog Service, which uses a web monitoring system.

(2) Maintenance systems for large-scale commercial installations
Sharp will exhibit a remote monitoring system that helps ensure stable power generation after installation and a megasolar cleaning robot that automatically cleans modules. Displays and demonstrations will introduce new maintenance mechanisms.

  • *1 “Solar technical meisters” are engineers who have received special education and training in solar power generation system maintenance, according to rules established by Sharp Engineering Corporation.
  • *2 HEMS: Home Energy Management System
  • *3 Low-voltage, grid-tied systems for which the total nominal maximum output of modules installed at once is less than 50 kW
