Kazuhiro Kitamura, formerly of Corporate Research and Development Group at Sharp Corporation, received the 39th Radio Engineering & Electronics Association Award in Japan, presented by the Radio Engineering & Electronics Association.
The award ceremony was held on November 18, 2025 at the KKR Hotel Tokyo (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo).
Established in 1987, the Radio Engineering & Electronics Association Award honors individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the promotion and smooth development of technologies related to broadcasting, telecommunications, and radio wave utilization.
Over many years, Kitamura served as the person responsible for Sharp’s TV system business, where he was deeply involved in the development of televisions and video equipment. Notably, he led the commercialization of the world’s first* 8K-compatible LCD television, making significant contributions to the expansion and application of ultra-high-definition imaging technologies.
These achievements have been highly recognized, leading to his receipt of this prestigious award.
