At the 8th EcoPro Awards, organized by the Sustainable Management Promotion Organization, Sharp’s color electronic paper display “ePoster” series received the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) Award.
The EcoPro Awards honor outstanding initiatives that respond to major socio-economic changes, such as achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and the transition to a circular economy. The awards aim to promote the further development and widespread adoption of environmentally conscious products, services, and business models that are highly regarded by businesses, consumers, and investors in the Japanese market.
The award ceremony was held on December 12, 2025 at Tokyo Big Sight (Koto-ku, Tokyo), where Shigeru Kobayashi, Corporate Executive Officer, Co-COO and Head of the Smart Workplace Business Group, represented the company.

■ Features of the Award-Winning Product and Background of the Award
The ePoster achieves “zero power consumption (0W)” while displaying content, requiring electricity only when the display is updated. This outstanding energy-saving performance is combined with electronic paper technology from E Ink Holdings Inc. (Headquarters: Hsinchu, Taiwan; CEO: Johnson Lee), the world’s largest company in the electronic paper field, delivering paper-like readability and rich color expression.
In addition, ePoster features a thin and lightweight design, enabling installation even in locations where conventional digital signage was difficult due to power supply limitations or load-bearing constraints. The system also supports remote, simultaneous content updates across multiple units, contributing not only to energy savings but also to reduced resource consumption and labor efficiency in operation.
These comprehensive environmental and operational benefits were highly evaluated, leading to the award.

“We are truly delighted that our electronic paper display ‘ePoster’ has been recognized by the prestigious Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award, and all of our employees share in this joy. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the judges and the association.
From the outset, ePoster was developed with the goal of simultaneously achieving three elements: the readability of paper, the productivity of digital technology, and low power consumption. This display consumes virtually no power except when updating content.
With the strong intention of replacing A2-size paper posters, which require significant effort to replace, we focused specifically on developing the product in an A2 size. This enables customers to display content directly without printing.
Going forward, we aim to make posting systems like ePoster a part of social infrastructure, while continuing to advance environmental technologies.”
