"One-of-a-Kind" Story

1973 SJ-3300X Refrigerator with Three Doors and a Vegetable Compartment

Sharp did 20 market surveys of 10,000 Japanese women in efforts to develop a refrigerator best suited to the needs of the country's homes.
The result was a three-door refrigerator that was the first home model to have a dedicated vegetable compartment. This was in response to requests for a separate compartment that would allow vegetables to be stored away from the rest of the refrigerator and thus stay fresher longer.
