"One-of-a-Kind" Story

2005 ES-HG90 Ag+ Ion Drum-Type Washer/Dryer

In conventional washing machines, the washtub (drum) and outer cabinet were joined together, producing vibration and noise. To solve this problem, Sharp developed a new Free-Float Drum, in which the internal drum and outer cabinet were detached from each other. Vibration from the drum was not transmitted to the outside, allowing the quietest operation in the industry at 40 dB—nearly as quiet as a library. In addition, various washing/drying enhancements like a circulating water-jet system, high-speed spin drying, and high-efficiency drying enabled this washer/dryer to achieve the industry's lowest operating costs and best water savings.
