2009 SX Series Plasmacluster Home Air Conditioners

Sharp introduced the SX Series Plasmacluster Home Air Conditioners that release Plasmacluster ions at a concentration of 25,000 ions/cm3. These units feature the industry's highest energy efficiency*1 and maintains cleanliness both in indoor living spaces as well as inside the air conditioner itself.
Available in air conditioners for the first time, an ion concentration of 25,000 ions/cm3 increases the power*2 to inhibit the activity of airborne viruses and the ability to decompose and remove airborne mold fungi and allergens (such as dust mite feces and carcasses) as well as odors clinging to curtains. In addition, discharging high concentrations of Plasmacluster ions inside the air conditioner unit itself eliminates the musty odor that one frequently senses when the air conditioner is first turned on.
These models also feature the industry's highest energy efficiency*1 thanks to a newly developed outside fan that minimizes air resistance and airflow control technology that efficiently moves air.

  • *1:As of October 14, 2009. For home air conditioners in the 5.0/6.3-kW class. Power consumption during cooling/heating season: 1,670/2,428 kWh; annual performance factor (APF): 6.0/5.2 (AY-Z50SX/Z63SX).
  • *2:Compared with an ion concentration of 7,000 ions/cm3.
