2007 LN-LW3A1/LS2A1 Solar/LED Streetlight

Sharp introduced the LN-LW3A1 based on a combination of a proprietary solar panel and high-brightness, long-life LEDs, which deliver brightness (instrument-measured luminous flux: 1,800 lumens) on a par with 32W fluorescent crime-deterrent security lighting (in the form of six compact fluorescent lamps). The LN-LS2A1 is in the 20W class (instrument-measured luminous flux: 1,200 lumens) and is ideal for spot illumination at night in areas such as public parks.
The LN-LW3A1 achieves a brightness (recommended Class A*1 illumination level for security lighting when installed at intervals of 13 meters) sufficient to enable nighttime identification of facial features of a person on foot even from four meters away, which is the distance necessary to take evasive action after judging that person to be suspicious.
Also, a built-in Earthquake Sensor triggers the modules to remain fully lit for two nights*2 after a temblor of 5 or greater on the Japanese intensity scale is detected.

  • *1:Recommended lighting class for security lighting based on "Outdoor Public Lighting Standards for Pedestrians" from the Japan Security Systems Association. The LN-LS2A1 provides recommended Class A lighting when installed at 9-meter intervals.
  • *2:Until battery charging capacity reaches zero.
