With the progressive formulation of new international standards focusing on the core technologies over broadcasting, storage, and distribution of ultrahigh-definition video content, Sharp is developing key technologies for the realization of such services.The new standards will cover MPEG-DASH (Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP), H.265 High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), an encoding method that doubles the data compression ratio, and the MPEG Media Transport (MMT), the multiplex method which is currently under development and will see the convergence of broadcasting and telecommunications. Sharp has provided its research and development findings, some of which have been adopted into these standards.
