Plasmacluster Installation Case: 3

Dramatic Reduction in Hospital Hallway Odors, Improved Treatment Environment, and Praised from Patients and Families

Name: Shinyachiyo Hospital, Shinwakai Group
Industry: Hospital
Location: Yachiyo City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan
Products: Ion generator FU-M1000 (20 units)

Issues before Installation
To improve the care environment of Shinyachiyo Hospital, efforts were made over the years to rid the hallways of the kind of unpleasant odors typical of a hospital. Various types of ventilation, deodorants, and deodorizing equipment were tried, to no avail.
Effects after Installation
1. Thanks to the use of Plasmacluster ion air purifiers, patients and their families have been pleased to notice a dramatic reduction in the hospital odors typically present in the hallways.
2. As they are wall-mounted, the air purifiers don’t block the path of wheelchairs, moveable beds, and the like.
3. Hospital management is satisfied with the cost effectiveness of the air purifiers, since they require almost no maintenance.

Installation purpose
Wanted to remove unpleasant hospital hallway odors and give patients a comfortable care environment
Patients at convalescent hospitals stay for long periods of time, so the facility must make every possible effort however small to improve the environment. A top priority for customers was eliminating the odors permeating the hallways. Shinyachiyo Hospital had already tried a number of measures extensive ventilation, deodorants, photocatalysts with a deodorizing effect, and a variety of equipment but none were satisfactory, as odors continued to linger in the corners of rooms.

The Reason for Choosing Plasmacluster
Convinced by deodorizing test and trial installation.
Wall mounting means no obstructions for moveable beds
In our search to find a way to get rid of hospital odors, we came across an in-store demonstration of a Plasmacluster ion generator. The Sharp salesperson demonstrated how Plasmacluster Ions can remove the odor and yellow color from an ammonia-soaked cloth. Our decision to try this technology was also influenced by the availability of a wall-mountable model that would enable us to keep hallways clear for traffic. After confirming the product’s effectiveness in a three-week trial, we ordered 20 air purifiers for our group facilities.

Effect after installation
Odors almost completely gone.
Patients and families are satisfied
Having wrestled for years with the problem of hospital odors, we are now very satisfied with the near-odorless air, sterile environment, and absence of fine dust in our hallways. The products employ odor and dust sensors to indicate the condition of the air via a color-coded lamp. This gives us peace of mind, knowing that Sharp technology is working to ensure the air is clean. Patients and their families and by extension hospital staff are happy with the pleasant new care environment.

Future Ideas
High cost effectiveness prompts possible orders for entire hospital group.
Even running the Sharp air purifiers around the clock doesn’t add much to our electricity bills. The products’ superb cost effectiveness is rounded out by minimal operation and maintenance requirements. We are currently considering additional installation of Sharp Plasmacluster air purifiers in the rehabilitation wing of Shinyachiyo Hospital, as well as in Yatomi Asakuro, the group’s special nursing home for the aged.
