Issues before Installation
Distinct odors lingered in the corridors and common spaces of the long-term medical care ward, and the air environment for employees and visitors was far from pleasant. Reducing odors adhering to wallpaper and the like was also a major hurdle.
Effects after Installation
Unpleasant odors were reduced and the air environment of the hospital was improved, which pleased the patients’ families. Since the air purifiers were installed in high positions on walls, they could disperse ions more effectively. These high-density ions worked to greatly reduce odors lingering on wallpaper.

Installation Purpose
Wanted to improve the hospital air environment and reduce odors coming from various sources
Since patients in critical condition are cared for in building A, odors from diaper changing and mealtimes lingered in the corridors and common spaces. Furthermore, the 45-year-old hospital building has a design with poor ventilation. The existing air conditioning equipment was also in a poor state of repair. Odors were emitted from the wallpaper, the carpets, and even the pipes. It was our top priority to make the hospital more comfortable for patients, visitors, and staff alike.

Since I have experience using Plasmacluster ion generator systems in my house and car, I was well aware of their effectiveness and I had great trust in Sharp products. We decided to have the products installed after being convinced by an odor-eliminating experiment using ammonia water. Many staff members noticed that the air became fresher and odors were reduced after Sharp loaned us a demonstration Plasmacluster product.

Thanks to the high-density ions, the distinct odors adhering wallpaper and the like—which we thought would be impossible to eliminate—were reduced. After the installation, we had employees fill out a questionnaire about odor elimination. The results showed that 83% of respondents felt that there had been a great improvement or at least that the equipment had been effective at reducing odors. The air environment has improved, and patients’ families are also pleased that the air has become fresh. Since the Plasmacluster air purifiers are installed on the walls, showers of ions can be dispersed widely from high positions and a comprehensive purification effect can be achieved.

Going forward, we intend to install Plasmacluster products in other buildings. As more stringent air quality control will probably be required in the future, we are also considering installing Plasmacluster products in selected affiliated facilities, such as our visiting care nurse station, our healthcare facility for the elderly, and our home-care support center.
