The New Gaia series of rental apartments from the Shibaura Group is the first in Japan to adopt solar cell power generation systems for all households, with a solar cell capacity of 64.5 kW. These units are attracting attention as futuristic eco-apartments which aim to achieve harmony with the environment by harnessing the bounty of nature. New Gaia received the Gold New Energy Award of Japan in 2004.
