Operating Income by Product Group
（1）Consumer/Information Products
Operating income for Audio-Visual and Communication Equipment increased to 7.3 billion yen, up 4.3% over the same period last year, despite negative effects, such as a drop in unit price for mobile phones sold in overseas markets.
Operating income for Home Appliances was 1.0 billion yen, up 3.5%.
Operating income for Information Equipment increased to 4.9 billion yen, an increase of 8.8% compared to the same period last year, due to the consistent profit contribution from our document systems business.
Overall operating income for Consumer/Information Products comprising these three product groups totaled 13.4 billion yen, up 5.8% over the same period last year.
（2）Electronic Components
Operating income for ICs increased to 4.4 billion yen, up 8.0% over the same period last year. CCD and CMOS imagers contributed to increased profit.
Operating income for the LCDs was 12.1 billion yen, up 54.1%.
For large-size LCDs, we are focusing on panels for LCD color TVs, and on System LCDs for small-and medium-size LCDs, and we achieved profit growth as a result.
Operating income for the Other Electronic Components increased to 5.1 billion yen, up 25.6%, as a result of a steady improvement in the profitability of solar cells.
Overall, operating income for Electronic Components comprising these three device groups totaled 21.7 billion yen, an increase of 35.0% over the same period last year, and as a percentage of the total operating income for the company, rose from 55.6% in the same period last year to 61.5% for this period.
