Operating Income by Product Group
（1）Consumer/Information Products
Operating income for Audio-Visual and Communication Equipment increased to 8.6 billion yen, up 17.3 % over the same period last year, despite unit price drops for mobile phones in overseas markets.
Operating income for Home Appliances was 1.1 billion yen, up 9.0 % thanks to increased sales for high-value-added products.
Operating income for Information Equipment was 5.3 billion yen, up 8.3 % due to stable income from our copier/printer business.
Overall operating income for Consumer/Information Products comprising these three product groups totaled 15.1 billion yen, up 13.3 % over the same period last year.
（2）Electronic Components
Operating income for ICs was 2.4 billion yen, down 45.8 % from the same period last year. Although a significant drop in prices continued to center on flash memory, we were able to secure profits.
Operating income for LCDs was 13.0 billion yen, up 7.6 %. Despite a price fall and intensified competition, an increase in LCD TV panel sales contributed to increases in operating income.
Operating income for Other Electronic Components was 5.2 billion yen, about the same as the same period last year. While income from solar cells increased, income from other devices decreased.
Overall, operating income for Electronic Components comprising these three device groups totaled 20.6 billion yen, down 5.0 % from the same period last year.
