Financial Review for the Third Quarter Ended December 31, 2005(Consolidated)
Net sales and profits for the three months ended December 31, 2005 increased significantly. Amidst a continuing downward trend in product prices, net sales for the third quarter of fiscal 2005 were 731.7 billion yen, up 12.5% over the same period last year, reflecting sales growth for LCD TVs and mobile phones in Consumer/Information Products, and for LCDs and solar cells in Electronic Components.
Operating income was 43.7 billion yen, up 20.0% over the same period last year, and operating profit ratio was 6.0%, up 0.4 percentage points compared to the 5.6% ratio of the same period last year.
Net income was 26.2 billion yen, up 25.8% over the same period last year. Net sales and profits for this quarter represent record-setting performance on a quarterly basis (Sharp began releasing financial results on a quarterly basis in fiscal 2002).
For the nine months ended December 31, 2005, net sales totaled 2,067.2 billion yen, up 8.4% over the same period last year.
Operating income was 118.8 billion yen, up 4.2% over the same period last year. Net income was 62.7 billion yen, up 4.2% over the same period last year. Net sales and profits for the nine-month period also set record high.
