Sharp Environmental Forum in Xian

In response to the growing momentum of environmental efforts in China, Sharp is holding a series of environmental forums for Chinese government officials and media executives. The sixth Sharp Environmental Forum was held in Xian on December 2, 2008 following earlier ones in Shanghai (May 2007), Beijing (September 2007), Guangzhou (March 2008), Tianjin (May 2008), and Wuhan (September 2008).

The sixth event drew 25 representatives from the Xian municipal government and media organizations.

Sharp Corporation's Hiroshi Morimoto, Executive Officer and Group General Manager, Environmental Protection Group, opened the forum by making a brief presentation on Sharp's company profile and its environmental policies, using explanatory panels and a video on the Kameyama Plant.

Shinichi Niihara, COO China, followed up with an explanation on Sharp's business and contributions to Chinese society.

Guests of honor for this forum were Mr. Yang of the People's Government of Shaanxi Province and Mr. Li of the Environment and Resources Committee, People's Congress of Shaanxi Province.

The high level of interest in environmental issues was abundantly clear as the forum came to a close with a flurry of enthusiastic questions from participants about Sharp's environmental efforts and policies.
