SHARP technology makes a clear difference
Technolgy

Sharp incorporates the latest technology in all its DVD products. Downsized mechanisms help realize ultra compact and portable players. And thanks to advanced digital technology, including Sharp's proprietary digital picture-enhancing circuitry, DVD software will look its best when played back on a Sharp DVD player.

Digital Gamma Correction

Movies are specifically made to be viewed in a dark theater. Therefore, when DVD movie software is viewed in a well-lit room, dark scenes are often difficult to see. However, if the brightness levels were adjusted to compensate for dark images, brighter images would become too bright to be viewed clearly. Sharp's original Digital Gamma Correction increases the brightness of dark images to an optimal level without affecting the level of bright images. The result is a clearer, faithfully reproduced picture that's rich in contrast.

-Dark-

In a bright room, dark movie scenes are often difficult to see.

-Bright-

Yet, adjusting the brightness level to compensate for dark images causes lighter images to become overly bright.

Sharp's Digital Gamma Correction circuit increases the brightness of dark images without affecting bright images, thus achieving optimum picture clarity.

Digital Super Picture

Sharp's Digital Picture Circuit transforms low color contrast images into crisp and clear images by enhancing high-frequency components with low amplitudes and luminance. With the touch of a button, low-contrast movie scenes become high in contrast and sharp in detail.

Color Separate (Component) Output

To achieve the highest level of picture quality, Sharp DVD players feature color separate video output. Component output separates the video output signal into three color components (cyan-blue, cyan-red, and yellow). This process, which is standard in professional AV equipment, reproduces images with much greater color precision and definition than the composite video output found in most consumer AV products.

Surround Sound

Sharp DVD players incorporate three different surround sound processing circuits so you can enjoy the remarkable audio capability of DVD regardless of your sound system.
For the ultimate in theater-like sound, Sharp DVD players offer Dolby Digital 5.1 (AC-3) which has five discrete channels of full-range audio plus a single limited-bandwidth channel for a dedicated sub-woofer.
For two-channel systems, users can select Q-Surround and still enjoy dynamic surround sound on only two speakers!
Users can also select the widely used Dolby Pro·Logic format which delivers three-dimensional sound effects in a four-channel format (left, right, center, and surround).
*Dolby Pro·Logic is registered trademark of Dolby Laboratories Licensing Corporation.
