Eight Products Awarded the Good Design Award 2025, including the Good Design Best 100

Selected from a wide range of categories, spanning home appliances to business solutions

Sharp Corporation has been awarded for eight entries at the Good Design Award 2025 (organized by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion). The Plasmacluster front load washer dryer <ES-8XS1> was selected among the entries for the Good Design Best 100, a list recognizing the 100 most highly rated designs.

Sharp will continue striving to create products, services, and solutions that bring smiles to users as they experience them, by designing not only to enhance aesthetic appeal but also for overall usability and functionality.

・Plasmacluster Front Load Washer Dryer <ES-8XS1> [Selected for Good Design Best 100]

A compact front load washer dryer that balances comfortable living with energy-saving performance. In response to the growing demand for compact models due to the rise in small households, this model employs a heat pump drying system with high energy efficiency. By adopting steel plates for the body and reducing internal components, it boasts a space-saving, simple design that utilizes the material to create a refined build and texture. It incorporates features such as automatic liquid detergent and fabric softener dispensing, as well as generative AI services to reduce the daily burden of managing laundry. Careful consideration has been given to the size and placement of the dispenser port and control panel to ensure ease of use.

・Water Oven Toaster Healsio Toaster <AX-WT1>

This toaster uses superheated steam as its heat source to bake bread while ensuring moisture. Equipped with the Delicious Texture Master, it offers five adjustable levels of browning and three levels of fluffiness, enabling users to select from a total of 15 combinations to tailor the baked bread to their preference. The design aims to highlight the appeal unique to the Healsio Toaster, featuring an iconic window that heightens anticipation as it bakes to perfection and a screen design that conveys the fun of selecting different textures.

・Sanitary Product Dispenser todokuto (jointly awarded with Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture)

This sanitary product dispenser is designed for installation in restrooms in public buildings, schools, and business facilities, providing a hygienic and easy-to-use solution. Users can simply wave their hand over the device to dispense a single sanitary napkin at a time. Hamamatsu City has been utilizing these dispensers to distribute sanitary napkins from its emergency stockpile that are nearing their expiration date. Sharp aims to expand the installation of these to more locations, fostering a society where women undergoing menstruation can feel more at ease.

・4K OLED TV AQUOS QD-OLED <HS1 Line>

Equipped with the latest-generation Quantum Dot OLED Panel, this TV line features Sharp's proprietary cooling structure and panel driving circuit to maximize brightness performance, delivering approximately twice the luminance compared to previous models (*1). This line vividly captures intricate sparkles against jet black, such as stage lighting effects during music concerts or a star-studded sky, while also rendering brightly lit scenes in dramas and variety shows with vibrant colors. ・Conversational AI Character Poketomo

Poketomo is a pocket-sized companion that makes everyday life more enjoyable when spent together. It comes equipped with CE-LLM (*2), Sharp's proprietary AI technology powered by a large language model (LLM). By remembering conversations, places visited, and sights seen, it grows into a partner that understands and accompanies the real you. The robot version of Poketomo is palm-sized at approximately 12cm tall, allowing it to be taken anywhere, any time. Its head and arms move in sync with conversations, and its LEDs light up to express emotions dynamically. Its flock coating radiates a warm texture that invites touch.

・Color ePaper Display ePoster <EP-CA22>

Realizes display retention with zero power consumption. Power is only required when updating the display, resulting in excellent energy-saving performance. The display dimensions adopt the international standard A2 size, the same as conventional posters, allowing direct reproduction of paper poster content that keeps the original aspect ratio. Combining Sharp's proprietary color reproduction and image analysis technologies honed through developing multifunctional printers with a slim, lightweight, and flat-back design, it delivers both the expressiveness and usability of paper posters. The main cabinet also incorporates approximately 50% recycled plastic materials, demonstrating care for the environment. Replacing paper posters with this product contributes to reducing operational costs associated with printing, sorting, and logistics.

・Slim-type Stacker Auto Transport Robot

An auto transport robot designed for order picking and transporting goods in logistics warehouses, as well as transferring materials and work-in-progress items in manufacturing plants. With a slim body design measuring 700mm in width, it can navigate aisles as narrow as 900mm, making it easy to deploy in existing work environments. The transfer unit for the handover of transported items can make highly precise positioning adjustments based on images from the onboard camera. In addition to vacuum-based suction to hold transported items, it also has arms capable of fork-style lifting, allowing users to select the method best suited for the transported items.

・Immersive Digital Experience Edo Kimono LOOKBOOK (Co-developed with the Tokyo National Museum and the National Center for the Promotion of Cultural Properties)

This interactive digital content was exhibited at the Tokyo National Museum (Taito Ward, Tokyo) from July 23 to September 23, 2024, with the aim of inspiring interest in cultural properties. It re-imagines a Hinagatabon, a design book compiling costume patterns from the Edo period, into a modern lookbook (*3), allowing visitors to appreciate the fashion culture of the time. Visitors can freely change colors of these historical kimonos using a tablet and display the results on a life-size monitor, creating a virtual fitting experience. By striking poses and enjoying them like street photography, visitors can experience the sensation of trying on cultural heritage garments without damaging them, as well as the joy of fashion that transcends its era.
