Sharp commemorates its 111th anniversary – “Sharp Technology Day” will be held on November 11, 2023

On April 17, Sharp held an event commemorating its 111th anniversary at its Makuhari Office (Mihama-Ku, Chiba). About 500 stakeholders, including members of the Hayakawa family, the founding family of our company, members of the House of Representatives, ambassadors to Japan from various countries, local governments we have business ties, and business partners who have been indebted to us on a daily basis.
At the event, Robert Wu, President and CEO of Sharp announced that “Sharp Technology Day”will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023 .
■ From the 111th anniversary event
With images of flames in the background, the opening performance by the Japanese drum and shamisen team “Yumezo-MUSASHI” heated up the venue. CEO Robert Wu opened the event, appreciating all stakeholders for their support over the years to enable Sharp reach its 111th anniversary.
Next, representing our guests, Ms. Sumie Hayakawa, the daughter of the founder of Hayakawa, and an adviser to the social welfare corporation Ikutokuen, member of the International Lions Club, the ambassadors to Japan of the countries where our manufacturing bases are located (His Excellency Pawel Milewski, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland, His Excellency Heri Ahmadi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia, Chargé d’affaires Nguyen Duc, Acting Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Mr. Min) and Mr. Akira Amari, Member of the House of Representatives of the Liberal Democratic Party, gave us their greetings and gave us warm words to our company.
Following, Robert Wu, President and CEO took the podium again and announced that Sharp will hold “Sharp Technology Day”on November 11, 2023. In addition to introducing our future technology strategy, Sharp plans to exhibit a wide range of innovative products and solutions that employ our unique technology.
Mr. Branden Chen, Senior Managing Executive Officer and CFO of our company, followed with his speech.
Next, we held a talk session on “Sharp’s technology development direction” by five people in charge of development of each business, including Mototaka Tanaya, Managing Director of Sharp’s R&D Headquarters. Each person in charge explained the latest initiatives in the four areas of “displays” and “networks.”

Following the talk session, we introduced 5 projects that achieved outstanding results last year and received awards from outside the company, and commemorated the representatives.

Later, the 111th anniversary kick-off ceremony was held by President and CEO Robert Wu, Executive Vice President Masahiro Okitsu, Senior Managing Executive Officer and CFO Branden Chen, and Managing Director Mototaka Taneya. A performance arousing expectations for cutting-edge technology and solutions was made.
In the end, Masahiro Okitsu, Representative Director and Executive Vice President, closed the event with words of gratitude to everyone who has supported the company for 111 years.
At the hall next to the main venue, an exhibition of key historical products of the company were on display, along with a demonstrative exhibition corner of Healsio for the guests to experience.
A large number of people attended our 111th anniversary event, and I could feel their expectations for Sharp. Please look forward to Sharp Technology Day on November 11th.
