TRAY 3 - 4 (when a stand/550&2100 sheet paper drawer is installed)

A maximum of 1200 sheets of 8-1/2" × 11" (A4) paper can be loaded into tray 3 (left).
A maximum of 900 sheets of 8-1/2" × 11" (A4) and B5 paper can be loaded into tray 4 (right).

If you loaded paper of a different type or size from the paper previously loaded, be sure to check the settings in "Settings". An incorrect setting may cause print failure, printing on paper of an incorrect size, or type or paper misfeeds.
To check the type and size of paper:
[Tray Settings] in the home screen or in "Settings", select [Status] → [Machine Identification] → [Paper Input Tray Status]→ [Paper Tray Settings].

Caution

When the tray is open, do not place heavy objects on the tray or press down on the tray.

Pull out the paper tray.

Gently pull the tray out until it stops.

Pull the handle until the lock is released.

Fan the paper.

Fan the paper well before loading it. If the paper is not fanned, multiple sheets may feed at once and cause a misfeed.

Place paper into the tray.

    Load the paper with the print side facing up. The stack must not be higher than the indicator line (maximum of 1200 sheets for tray 3, or maximum of 900 sheets for tray 4).
  • Load the paper with the print side facing up. The stack must not be higher than the indicator line (maximum of 550 sheets).
  • Fan the paper well before loading it. If the paper is fed while overlapping, it may cause a paper jam.
  • After loading the paper, close the guides to the paper width not to leave the gap from the guides A and B.
  • Do not load the paper as shown below.

Close the tray slowly.

Push the tray into the machine slowly.
